Planning continues for the 1st Annual 47th Ward Outdoor Film Festival. As we finalize our schedule, we would love to hear from you! What classic movie do you want to see on the schedule?
-- The Blues Brothers (1980) -- Star Wars (1977) -- Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) -- Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) -- Ghost Busters (1984) -- The Transformers: The Movie (1986) (note, this is the classic animated version from 86, it would look GREAT on the big screen)
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, I suggest that. Also, the 1st Twilight would be a great mood generator since the newest one will be out this summer.
How about While You Were Sleeping or Return to Me? Both highlight Chicago areas. Ferris Bueller, Blues Bros. & Untouchables are fine, but have been shown far too many times.
I like the idea of a Chicago-based movie: Blues Brothers or The Fugitive. Also, anything with Katherine Hepburn like Holiday or The Philadelphia Story.
Blues Brothers, Close Encounters, Blade Runner

ReplyDeleteHome Alone
ReplyDeleteGoonies!, Ghostbusters, E.T.
ReplyDeleteAnd also a few old B&W classics (one of the things that made the Chicago Film Fest great - seeing old classics that I'd never rent/watch on my own...)
Thirding Blade Runner
ReplyDeleteare you leaning towards fun films or art films? I think slightly older, "colorful" films are best for outdoor film fests:
ReplyDeleteb/w drama: "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte," "Strangers on a Train," "Citizen Kane," "The Nanny" (Bette Davis, 1965)
fun: "Singin' in the Rain" is a great idea, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Goonies," "Ghostbusters," "Karate Kid"
scary: "American Werewolf in London" would be perfect
sci fi: "Blade Runner," "Alien," "Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan," "War of the Worlds" (classic)
looking forward to it!
Wizare of Oz would be a great one for kids. Night of the Hunter, Days of Heaven and what about -- EASY RIDER!!!!
