What's Your Favorite Chicago Movie?

What's your favorite movie filmed in Chicago or about Chicago?  As the current home of the annual von Steuben Day Parade, we're a little biased...

Shake it up, baby now...

  1. Even though I list Blues Brothers in my list of recommended classic movies, I'll list it here too for movies in Chicago.

Also Ferris Bueller's day off would have to make the list as well.

Oh, and Batman Returns. When that movie was in the theatres, I saw it at Navy Pier. It was so cool walking out the theatre back downtown and feeling like I was walking through Gotham City. I totally was expecting Batman to be perched atop the Tribune Tower.

  2. This may be too late to influence a choice, and while I second the nomination of THE FUGITIVE, I'd like to put in a good word for THE LAKE HOUSE (2006). Screen writer David Auburn is a Chicago native (the film of his Tony winning play, PROOF is good, but way too "Hyde Park" for us north siders). The film is a tribute to Chicago Architecture; the ever popular Jane Austen (PERSUASION) figures prominently; a Metra station is an important location; there is an indirect tribute to Korean Chicagoans since the screenplay is based on a Korean film (SIWORAE, 2000) -- and more.
